Who we are
Steve Pretty is a musician, composer and podcaster probably best known as bandleader of Hackney Colliery Band, and for his “wide-ranging and insightful” (The Guardian) podcast Steve Pretty On the Origin of the Pieces. He composes music for stage, screen and concert hall, has performed with artists ranging from Kelis to The Cure, looks for any excuse to whip out and blow into a conch shell, and is obsessed with helping himself and others hear, understand and enjoy music in new ways.
Chris Lintott is an astronomer, author and presenter of BBC’s The Sky at Night. When he’s not discovering galaxies or explaining black holes, he’s finding new ways to share the wonders of the cosmos — from live shows to bestselling books like Our Accidental Universe.
Together they make up Universe of Music — a collaboration where science and sound collide. From brass bands to black holes, their shows explore the strange harmonies between astronomy and music, bringing both subjects to life with curiosity, humour and a touch of chaos.
